Privacy Policy
The Well

The Well is operated by Look Up The Stars Astrology Services Inc. ("The Well," "we," or "us"). This policy
explains what we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have. By using The Well you
agree to this policy.
1. Information we collect
- Account info: email address and display name.
- Birth-chart info: birth date, time (or "unknown"), city, country, coordinates, and timezone, for you and
anyone you add to "We".
- Activity in the app: bookmarks, reflections, saved notes, completed integrations, and notification
preferences.
- Technical info: device platform, OS version, app version, and crash logs (no personal content).
We do not collect your real-time location, contacts, photos, microphone, camera, browsing history, or
advertising identifiers. We do not use cookies for tracking.
2. How we use your information
- To compute and display your natal chart and the natal charts of people you add.
- To show daily and long-term transits relevant to your chart.
- To generate the personalized readings, summaries, and snapshots you see in the app.
- To send the optional notification reminders you turn on.
- To detect and prevent abuse, debug crashes, and keep the app working.
We do not sell your personal data, run advertising, build advertising profiles, or use your data to train any
AI model.
3. AI-generated content
Most of what you read in The Well is written by a human: the birth-chart interpretations (sign, house, and
aspect readings), the long-term transit slides, the daily transit content, the snapshot library, and the
integration content.
A few specific things are generated by AI, including:
- the short "In a nutshell" summaries on each of the six Me-tab dimensions,
- the Reflect feature's pattern summary, per-exercise prompts, and the auto-generated titles for past
exercises,
- the personalized summary on the Core Aspect share card,
- the Hidden Patterns and Hidden Traits readings,
- the optional "hook" introduction shown on some major-transit slides,
- the short Mars-activation insights on the Cycles tab,
- the placement-summary chips on Me-tab cards.
We may add similar AI-assisted personalisation features as the app grows; in every case the same rules apply.
When AI is used, we send only the relevant astrological details (placements, transit text, the slides you've
engaged with), never your name, email, or account ID. The AI provider does not retain or train on this data.
4. Who else processes your data
To run the app, we share specific data with the third-party services we need. Each one only sees what it
needs:
- An authentication provider, for sign-in.
- A database provider, for storing your account and app data.
- A chart-math server, for computing your natal chart.
- An AI provider, for generating the AI summaries described above.
- A location-search provider, for suggesting your birth city as you type it.
- A push-notification relay (Expo Push) and the underlying platform service (Apple's APNS or Google's FCM),
only if you enable notifications. The push payload contains a short title, a short body, and an internal
transit identifier — never your name, email, account ID, or birth details.
We do not use Google Analytics, Meta / Facebook SDKs, or any advertising-technology provider. Each of our
processors is contractually required to handle your data only for the purposes we've set.
We may also disclose information in three additional cases: (a) if we are legally required to (subpoena, court
order); (b) to protect the rights or safety of users or the public; (c) in connection with a merger,
acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case the receiving party will be bound by this policy.
5. Your rights
You can read and edit most of your data directly in the app: your profile, your birth details, your saved
entries, and your connections. From Settings you can reset all your bookmarks. From the We tab you can delete
a saved person. You can delete your entire account directly from Settings — this immediately wipes your
profile, connections, bookmarks, reflections, and other account data. If you'd rather have us do it, email us
at the address at the bottom of this policy and we'll complete deletion within 30 days.
If you live in British Columbia or elsewhere in Canada: you have the right to access and correct your personal
information held by us, to withdraw consent, and to file a complaint with the Office of the Information and
Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia (or the equivalent authority in your province). We comply with the
BC Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and PIPEDA as applicable.
If you live in California: you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to correct it, to
delete it, to limit our use of sensitive personal information, and to not be discriminated against for
exercising these rights. We do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral
advertising.
If you live in the EU, UK, or another GDPR jurisdiction: you have the right to access, rectify, erase,
restrict, port, and object to processing of your data, and to lodge a complaint with your local
data-protection authority. The legal basis for our processing is your consent (which you may withdraw at any
time) and our legitimate interest in providing the service you signed up for.

6. International users
The Well is operated from Canada and our processors operate in the United States, the European Union, and
other regions. By using The Well you understand that your data may be transferred to and processed in
countries whose privacy laws may differ from your own. Where required, we rely on standard contractual clauses
or equivalent safeguards.
7. Data retention
While your account is active, we keep your data so the app works. AI-generated readings are cached and
regenerate when your underlying chart or selections change. If you delete your account, we delete your data
within 30 days; backup logs may persist for up to 90 days before rolling off. We may retain anonymized,
aggregated data indefinitely (for example, error counts that no longer identify you).
8. Security
Data in transit is encrypted via HTTPS / TLS, and our providers encrypt data at rest. We don't store passwords
ourselves — our authentication provider does. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your data,
we will notify you within 72 hours of becoming aware of it, in line with applicable law.
9. Children
The Well is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from
anyone under 13. Users under 18 should use the app only with the consent of a parent or guardian. If you
believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Third-party links
The app may contain links to third-party websites or services we don't control. We are not responsible for
their content or privacy practices. Read their policies before providing data.
11. Disclaimer
The Well is for entertainment and self-reflection purposes only. The readings, summaries, and transit
interpretations are based on traditional astrology and are not a substitute for professional advice — medical,
psychological, legal, financial, or otherwise. Nothing in the app is a prediction, diagnosis, or treatment.
If you are facing a serious decision or a health concern, please consult a qualified professional.
12. Changes to this policy
If we make a meaningful change to this policy, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and notify you in
the app. Your continued use of The Well after a change means you accept the updated policy.
